Well it has been a very momentous week for Smithers Mens Shed….

we have a new permanent home !!!!

I can not express my gratitude to the Buckley Valley Bowmen Society enough for the gracious use of their maintenance building which will suit our purposes perfectly. In exchange for the use of the building, Smithers Mens Shed, will be taking on some of the much needed maintenance of the grounds and buildings for the bowmen. The Bowmen will have projects for us that we can work on together, at our own pace and on our own time.

2023 was a record year for forest fires in Canada. Andy Tamas realised that many children had lost their toys and his Men's Shed could help. Here is a short CTV piece about the project.

Approximately every month members of MSABC have a virtual meeting to catch up with Shed activities across the province, ask questions and generally offer support and encouragement to each other.

At our last virtual gathering Dr. John Ogrodniczuk, a Professor of Psychiatry, Director of the UBC Psychotherapy Program and Founder of HeadsUpGuys, a leading global resource for supporting men with depression, was invited to talk about Men's Suicide and Depression and what to do about it.

Then Sam Tutanauk shared with us the work he and his team are doing in Nunavut.
